BHS Alumni Association

"To maintain and cultivate among its members a sentiment of regard for one another and
affection and attachment to Brandywine High School and to support and promote in every way
the interests of BHS." The purpose of the Brandywine High School Alumni BHSAA (BHSAA) is to
nourish the growth and enhance the reputation of Brandywine High School, to maintain a
mutually beneficial relationship between the greater Brandywine community and our alumni, to
oversee all alumni programs and activities, to foster loyalty and financial support for BHS, to
represent alumni interest before the school administration, and to provide services to alumni."

In order to realize its mission, the BHSAA will be
guided by the following principles:

1. The BHSAA will strive for excellence in every
aspect of serving BHS, its alumni, community, staff,
and students.

2. The BHSAA will support and promote the interests
of the school through the following:

- Will be guided by a commitment to all alumni. It will
develop and implement programs aimed at
strengthening the ties of affection for one another and
for fostering a lifelong learning experience.

- Will promote the interests of BHS through the
organized support and cooperation of the alumni
body.

- Will establish programs and relationships for a
gathering and sharing of relevant information within
the total Brandywine family. Effective and timely
information interchange is essential to the successful
implementation of the mission of the BHSAA.

- Will continue to seek out quality individuals from its
ranks and encourage them to serve as leaders in
activities and programs.

- Will maintain a board to provide the necessary
interface with the BHS community, and to administer
the affairs of the BHSAA.

3. The BHSAA will manage itself effectively and
efficiently through the following:

Will exist in a legally separate capacity from BHS with
its board governed by its own By-Laws.

Will be sensitive to BHS' missions, principles and
goals, and will establish programs and plans and will
work to enhance them.

Will receive its operating funds from fundraising, and
will be guided at all times by a commitment to fiscal
responsibility, operating within a balanced annual
budget.

In order to realize its mission, the BHSAA, guided by the
stated principles, will aspire to achieve the goals
described below:

1. Will be committed to communicating with the alumni, in
a variety of ways, information concerning the school and
its alumni.

2. Will aim to increase the involvement of alumni in all of
its activities, and will recognize alumni for their service to
the BHSAA.

3. Will encourage educational value in its activities.

4. Will provide services to the alumni, where alumni
benefit can be derived from the unique nature of the
organization and its membership. In the services
provided, the considerations must include the assurance
of high quality, and the maintenance of the credibility of
the BHSAA.

5. Will be designed to insure the future of the BHSAA
and the school. The program will include, but not be
limited to alumni involvement in recruiting alumni;
nurturing and educating undergraduates and graduate
alumni; and continuing evaluation of the resources of the
BHSAA, facilities, and personnel, to accomplish its
mission.

6. Will work to involve the alumni in supporting the
school in all ways.

1. Marketing and Communications – improved and
enhanced communications from the BHSAA echoing key
school messages - to increase awareness of Brandywine
today and improve the reputation and the image of the
school.

2. Student Achievement: participate in enhancement of
student life at BHS through award of scholarships and
mentoring opportunities - to improve retention rates,
develop new alumni, and build affinity.

3. New Alumni – re-connect, re-engage, and re-involve
our largest alumni segment that also has the lowest
participation rates – to increase alumni perception,
participation, and loyalty with the school.

4. Reunion – involve alumni through on-campus activities
and programs - to increase alumni participation and
loyalty with the school.

5. Homecoming – involve alumni through activities such
as alumni tailgate, 5k run, and other programs – to
increase alumni participation and loyalty with the
school.

6. Networking – support alumni through networking
opportunities – to increase alumni participation with
the school.
